Do Retailers Incur Shopify Fees & What Are Usage Charges?

Edited

Retailers are responsible for Shopify fees on all orders, based on the price paid by the customer. For details, see Shopify Pricing.

In addition, Carro charges a usage fee through Shopify depending on the retailer’s subscription plan:

  • 10%, 7%, or 5% per order, billed every 30 days.

  • Suppliers decide what percentage of the sale they keep and do not incur Carro usage charges.

How It Works

When a retailer confirms their Carro subscription in Shopify, they see a message like:
"You’ve approved an app with a usage limit of $10,000.00 USD every 30 days."

  • This authorizes Carro to bill usage charges up to that limit.

  • For example, on a $100 transaction with a 10% usage fee, Carro would bill $10.

Example Allocation

  • 20% → Retailer (net earnings)

  • 70% → Supplier (via Stripe)

  • 10% → Carro (usage charge for Retailer Free Plan)

After the billing cycle:

  • The retailer is billed the 10% Carro usage charge.

  • The retailer nets 20%, which matches the original “EARN” value.

Retailers can upgrade their Carro subscription plan to pay lower Carro usage fees. Read more here.
